The Ingredients You Will Need

The first thing you will need to do is go shopping for everything you need to make Sriracha sauce at home, and it is not an extensive list. The ingredients you will need are as follows:

  • One pound of red jalapeno chillies with the stems removed
  • Half a pound of red serrano chillies with the stems removed
  • Four cloves of peeled garlic
  • Three tablespoons of brown sugar, light preferably
  • 1 tablespoon of salt
  • One third of a cup of water
  • Half a cup of white distilled vinegar

Step One

You will need to chop up the chillies and mix these with the garlic, sugar, salt, and water in a blender. Ensure you keep the seeds and blend the mixture until it is smooth. The seeds will help to give your sauce a delightful kick and ensure it has some spiciness to it.

Step Two

You will now need to put the mixture into a glass jar and cover the top with some plastic wrap. You will need to store the jar in a cool and dark place for between three and five days and ensure you stir the mixture thoroughly once a day. The mixture will start to ferment and make bubbles and make sure that you scrape all the mixture from the sides of the jar when stirring it.

Strep Three

You will now need to transfer the mixture back to the blender and add the vinegar, mixing it thoroughly. Now you need to use a strainer or sieve and transfer the mixture from the blender to a saucepan, retaining as much pulp as makes it through the sieve.

Step Four

You will now need to bring the mixture to a boil in the saucepan and ensure you continue stirring it. You will need to keep it boiling until the sauce reaches your desired consistency and remember the sauce will thicken when it cools.

Step Five

Now remove the saucepan from the heat and let the sauce cool to room temperature, you can then transfer it to a jar or a bottle, and it will be ready to eat.
